Women of Action is an initiative of the charity Food for the Hungry which is linking women in the UK with oppressed women in Bangladesh. Through running local learning and savings groups they are providing a safe and supportive environment for overlooked and often abused Bangladeshi women to realise their potential and value. At weekly meetings, women receive encouragement and teaching to help them build a better future for themselves and their families. Women are able to contribute and manage their own group savings account, and receive literacy, health, legal, leadership and business training. Working together, they are able to develop the skills and confidence that they need to transform their communities, start their own small businesses, and provide for their children. To find out more and sponsor one their women’s groups please visit: www.womenofaction.co.uk
